All Blacks’ Scott Barrett Sees Red For Dangerous Hit On Michael Hooper

With Hansen on the record as saying the Bledisloe Cup is the second most important trophy for the All Blacks after the World Cup, the Wallabies could face quite a backlash at Eden Park next week.

Otherwise, never mind the All Blacks had looked vulnerable against South Africa or that the Wallabies were on the respectable side of decent against Argentina. So marvellously that, for once, instead of trying to identify the weekly Wallaby whipping boy, it took some time to fully praise all the heroes of the hour.

There was no let up in Australia's attacking intent and Marika Koroibete crossed from close range before Hodge used his quick feet to capitalise on another O'Connor assist, although Ngani Laumape's excellent individual effort restored some pride for the visitors.

The 24-year-old limped off midway through the first half in the All Blacks' 47-26 loss last night.

"I didn't see it as one guy who really stood out".

Barrett's contact with Hopper at the breakdown was reviewed at length by referee Jerome Garces before the referee came to the decision that the lock's "shoulder and elbow on the neck" was "clearly risky, direct and with force".

Although the infamous boat-sinking by French intelligence agents merely curtailed protests about nuclear testing in the Pacific.

The incident, which happened just before half-time, saw Barrett sent off after his clash with Wallabies captain, Michael Hooper.

Despite the euphoric post-victory scenes, the most anxious rugby fans remained fearful the All Blacks had run dead; that their eyes were on the much bigger prize at the World Cup and they were easy pickings.

He said the Wallabies must improve, just as the home side would.

While the Kiwis lifted, the Wallabies selections backfired. "At the end, they found more space than we could cover".

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen said his team were their own worst enemy, lamenting their poor discipline.

Michael Cheika after Australia beat the All Blacks.

All Blacks lock Scott Barrett has been charged with a unsafe tackle and is facing a possible ban which would rule him out of Saturday's deciding Bledisloe Cup Test against the Wallabies in Auckland.

"They haven't lost to Australia at Eden Park since 1986, they haven't lost a test there since 1994, but that's not going to win the test match for them".

They will have survived one of sport's great ordeals.
