Donald Trump Condemns "White Supremacy", Warns Of Internet "Perils", Calls Dayton "Toledo"

Donald Trump Condemns

President Donald Trump addressed the nation for roughly nine minutes on Monday after two mass shootings in Texas and OH, which left at least 29 people dead and 53 injured over the weekend.

"We vow to act with urgent resolve", he said.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy separately also cited video games in the wake of two massacres in Texas and OH that left at least 29 people dead.

The US President suggested earlier on Twitter that a background check bill could be paired with his long-sought effort to toughen the nation's immigration system.

- Jared Yates Sexton (@JYSexton) August 5, 2019Trump condemns the role of racism, white supremacy and the internet in mass shootings.

Everything he's saying is completely inconsistent with everything he's ever said and done as president. It seemed that Trump was trying to reference a more recent attack on the Rancho Tehama elementary school in northern California. "But perhaps more has to be done".

The president called for a bipartisan response to gun violence but stopped short of providing specifics on what he would support in legislation.

But he did not say how or why he was connecting the issues.

The Office of Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs Marcelo Ebrard said that seven Mexican citizens were killed in the shooting in El Paso. "These sinister ideologies must be defeated". "Hate has no place in America".

Officers gunned down the OH shooter at the doorstep of a bar-turned-hiding place in the middle of Dayton's nightclub district, and arrested the El Paso shooter as hundreds fled a crowded shopping center. Another two victims died Monday morning, bringing the death toll to 22. Nine people were killed and 27 injured in the minute before police killed the gunman, NBC News reports.

Such language has "been at the root of most human tragedy throughout history", Obama added, and has "no place in our politics and our public life".

Assistant Police Chief Matt Carper said the shooting began at 1 a.m. local time in Dayton's Oregon District, a downtown historic neighborhood popular for its nightclubs, restaurants art galleries, and shops.

"He's not tolerating racism, he's promoting racism", O'Rourke said.

The El Paso shooter had an anti-immigration manifesto.

The proposal received swift pushback from Democrats, particularly because the El Paso shooting suspect targeted immigrants in a border city. They will spout empty rhetoric, and they will count on us to forget. "Pro tip: When Trump can only read from a teleprompter and tweet from his country club, the proper response to these massacres from any politician is to speak from your heart and with honest honesty".

After flying into Morristown, New Jersey with his wife, Melania, on Sunday, President Trump told reporters he would be address the mass shootings during a 10 am address on Monday. He said he's been speaking to the attorney general, the Federal Bureau of Investigation director and members of Congress and will make an additional statement Monday.

The President then claimed the gunmen were "really very seriously mentally ill".

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine visited the scene Sunday and said policymakers must consider: "Is there anything we can do in the future to make sure something like this does not happen?" "Do not bring it into our communities".

Trump used words and phrases like "evil" and "wicked man" and "twisted monster" to describe the two shooters, noting among the dead and wounded are "precious little children".

Even as the familiar post-shooting rituals played out in both cities, the death toll ticked upward, with two more people dying of injuries sustained in shooting at the Walmart in Texas.
