CNN Debate Lineup Has Joe Biden Facing Kamala Harris Again

CNN Debate Lineup Has Joe Biden Facing Kamala Harris Again

Kamala Harris, who clashed at the first Democratic debate, will face off again on July 31, leaving the ideologically aligned Sens.

The second night will have Harris, Biden, New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard, Colorado Senator Michael Bennet, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, Washington Governor Jay Inslee, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, businessman Andrew Yang and former Housing and Urban Development secretary Julian Castro.

Elizabeth Warren will get her first debate opportunity to go up against Biden, Harris or Sen.

Harris and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., each have 13% of support while Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, rounds out the top five contenders at 7%.

The lineups for each night were announced on air during a live, random draw for transparency around the event. Both raised more from California donors than anybody else in the Democratic primary field, the Free Beacon found.

During the second night of debates on June 27, Harris saw a breakout moment when she took on Biden over his comments on working with segregationists, which he has since apologized for, and his stance against busing to integrate schools decades ago, telling a personal story of being bused.

Each cluster featured candidates who were polling at similar levels, and each cluster was apportioned an equal number of slots across the two nights. They will be joined by several more moderate candidates who are likely to question the senators' sweeping proposals for single-payer health insurance and tuition-free college, among other plans.

"Mark the date: July 31, 2019". Rep. Eric Swalwell, who was in the first debate in June, dropped out of the presidential race on July 8. Candidates will have to hit 2% in four polls and collect donations from 130,000 supporters.

Sanders and Warren, the other two highest ranking candidates, will share a stage for the first time.

There are no two top, or even middle-tier candidates, with so much in common.

On the first night of the debates, July 30, the candidates featured will be: Marianne Williamson, John Delaney, John Hickenlooper, Tim Ryan, Steve Bullock, Amy Klobuchar, Beto O'Rourke, Pete Buttigieg, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, the network said.

But based on public information, it had been clear for days that Moulton, Messam, Steyer and Sestak were the four candidates likely to miss the debate stage.

Candidates had until 11 a.m. ET Wednesday to certify with the DNC that they have either achieved at least 1% support in three polls from an approved list of pollsters or received campaign contributions from 65,000 unique donors, including 200 donors each from 20 different states.
