Serena Williams sends message to Roger Federer fans after losing Wimbledon final

At age four, Simona saw her older brother playing tennis and she picked up a racket to be just like him!

Seventh-seeded Simona Halep played the best tennis of her life and ruined Serena Williams' chance for a 24th Grand Slam title on Saturday, winning 6-2, 6-2 in the women's singles final at Wimbledon.

Serena Williams has been chasing the No. 24 for more than two years now.

"It was a little bit like a deer in headlights for me". In addition to apparel, she has also endorsed other products such as Hubolt watches and was a brand ambassador Mercedes-Benz Romania.

Time and again, Williams went for broke on her shots, eager to end the rally, only to watch in near disbelief as Halep chased down a ball that would have been a victor against many other opponents.

Williams complimented her opponent after the match saying, "She literally played out of her mind".

It was a tactic which worked to perfection for the world number seven who had lost nine of her previous 10 meetings with Williams. Up until this year, the Romanian's best result in south west London came in 2014 when she reached the semifinals.

Serena Williams fell short of her quest to tie Margaret Court's grand slam singles title on Saturday.

Williams was undone by 26 unforced errors to Halep's two in a personal horror show on Centre Court.

"It's something very special and I'll never forget this day".

The challenge now is for Halep to keep backing it up. Williams won in three sets in the 2019 Australian Open and took another three-setter at the 2016 US Open. She hasn't won a Grand Slam title since the 2017 Australian Open and her pursuit for that milestone continues.

"I was actually thinking this morning [Thursday], when I won my first Wimbledon".

"The finals I lost in the past helped me for sure to be different when I face this moment".

"It's been an honour to play here and to win my second grand slam". "You get a Tiffany crystal vase at the US Open". You can get nervous, too nervous.

"I came on court and gave my best". So I did that.

"The day before the women's final, eight-time Wimbledon victor and Halep's idol Federer overcame Rafael Nadal in his semi-final, before offering his support to the world number seven, saying she should "back herself" and show a "winner mentality".

"I'm really proud of my game of today and the whole tournament".

Tennis great Billie Jean King praised Halep on her dominant performance throughout the match.

The Duchess of Cambridge was in attendance in the Royal Box and afterwards spoke with Halep, who was thrilled with the introduction.

She also revealed she has been trying to get into the mindset that has made her the most dominant player of her generation.

Her third came earlier in 2018 against another perennial underachiever on the biggest stage, Caroline Wozniacki, in a marathon match in sweltering conditions at Melbourne Park.
