AMD confirms Radeon 5700 series price cuts two days before launch

AMD unveiled its recent Radeon RX 5700 line of graphics cards with 7nm chips at E3 final month, and with apt days to head earlier than they delivery on July 7th, the company has announced recent pricing.

The Radeon 5700 XT, previously listed at $450, will now cost $400, and the Radeon 5700, previously $380, will be priced at $350. As rumors all around the internet had already speculated, the RTX 2060, 2070, and 2080 desktop cards will all receive Super updates.

AMD is focused on providing gamers with fantastic experiences and access to the very best gaming technology at attractive price points. We welcome this competition with open arms, allowing innovation to be driven upwards for the sole benefit of the players. A cynical stance on Nvidia's new Super graphics cards could easily conclude that the refresh is more of a GPU reshuffling and rebinning which could quite easily have been in place since Turing's original launch in 2018.

It's quite possible that Nvidia's old, non-Super cards will automatically see supply and demand price cuts of their own, seeing how Nvidia isn't asking for any more money for the new Super version of the 2070, which competes most directly with the 5700 XT.

The Radian RX 5700 XT and RX 500 are set to be launched July 7. The new additions are in the form of gaming-focused graphics cards, and they are being called "Super". Let us know in the comments.

I don't agree with Jason's stance on throwing off the competition, NVIDIA had the game won without the need of SUPER or even a price drop. It's bigger brother is the Radeon RX 5700 XT, with a fully enabled NAVI chip it has 2560 shader processors active. We do wish AMD would not make a distinction between a game and max boost clock though as it is just too confusing for the majority of consumers.
