Leicester reject United's £70m bid for Maguire

According to Sun reporter Tom Barclay, Leicester will try to sign Lewis Dunk from Brighton if Maguire joins Man United.

The Foxes are in the market for a new central defender, as both Manchester City and Manchester United have shown serious interest in England global Harry Maguire, with the Red Devils having a series of offers turned down last summer.

The centre-back was a target for former Man United manager Jose Mourinho last summer but the club were put off by Leicester's valuation.

Maguire was linked last summer with Manchester United but the club's board made a decision to go against the wishes of then manager Jose Mourinho and not pursue a bid for a player then valued at around £65 million.

And, while not the type to agitate for a move, PA understands the centre-back has made Leicester aware he is open to exploring other opportunities.

27-year-old Dunk played 36 times for Brighton in the Premier League last season.

Solskjaer has already added two new players to his squad this summer after the arrivals of Dan James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka for a combined fee of £65m.

That asking price really should make Leicester the only realistic contender, by using a large chunk of the expected Maguire money.

It has been suggested that Maguire has expressed a desire to move but Leicester have received no direct indications from the 26-year-old over his intentions while he has been on holiday.

He also has 20 caps for England, scoring once in last summer's 2-0 World Cup quarter-final win over Sweden.
