Biden, Sanders to face off as first Democratic debate line-up set

One widely viewed tweet this week shows five presidential candidates in recent decades who trailed at this point in their campaigns - including Trump - but who went on to win.

Trump is set to officially launch his campaign for re-election in 2020 during a Tuesday rally in Orlando, Florida.

Still, the Fox poll, conducted between 9 June and 12 June, is seen as heartening by Democrats eager to chip away at President Trump's popularity, particularly in key battleground states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The numbers showed Trump behind in several key states, and even potentially in trouble in Texas.

Robert Reich, former labor secretary under President Bill Clinton, told the New York Times last week, "It's rare, at this stage of a presidential campaign, somebody distinguishes themselves by the boldness and detail of their policies".

Politico reports that the Trump 2020 campaign has shifted gears significantly, and is now looking at Warren as a top target in the coming months of the campaign.

U.S. Democratic presidential frontrunner Joe Biden will appear on the same stage with Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg and six other rivals during the second of two nights of candidate debates scheduled for later this month in Miami.

President Donald Trump has reportedly planned to fire his own pollsters after it was revealed he's trailing Joe Biden in polls.

Biden's numbers among Democratic primary voters are 66 percent enthusiastic/comfortable (down from 73 percent in March), versus 32 percent reservations/very uncomfortable (up from 25 percent in March). "Warren challenges Sanders for progressives' 2020 support", notes the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

The first debate on June 26 will include candidates Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar and Beto O'Rourke among the 10 participants, NBC announced on Friday. "The reassessment of Warren, confirmed in conversations with more than a half-dozen Trump advisers, reflects the volatility of the massive Democratic primary and how the reelection campaign is reacting to it".

Among likely voters considering Ms. Harris, 36% said she would probably beat Mr. Trump.

The turnabout is head-snapping-Sanders averaged more than 22 percent in national polls during February, Warren under 7 percent, yet here they are virtually tied at around 17 percent in three polls taken this week.

"We need to pick a candidate that's going to be exciting to vote for - all people, women, people of all genders, races, income levels".
