Trump Rages Against House Democrats: ‘Mueller Should Not Testify’

In a Twitter rant, Trump accused Democrats of "looking for a redo because they hated seeing the strong NO COLLUSION conclusion".

Cicilline, who is a key member of the committee, told Fox News Sunday that Mueller may testify on May 15. "No redos for the Dems!" he continued.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican, offered Mueller a chance Thursday to testify before that panel if he feels the need to correct any statements made by Barr.

Barr testified Wednesday that Mueller didn't challenge the accuracy of his memo summarizing the principal conclusions of the special counsel's report, including when they spoke on the phone.

"We think the American people have a right to hear directly from him", Cicilline said during his TV appearance. While Mueller punted on making a call on obstruction, his final report clearly states that Trump was NOT exonerated on obstruction of justice charges.

Apparently sensing that Democrats meant to turn the hearing into a circus, Barr simply skipped the hearing altogether. In a later tweet, the lawmaker clarified that the committee had proposed the date "but nothing has been agreed to yet".

Trump told reporters in the Oval Office last week that testimony from Mueller was "up to our attorney general". Although Democrats have initiated more than 60 individual investigations into the Trump White House, the Trump campaign, and Trump businesses, their primary focus appears to be on the President's campaign team.

The committee's chairman, Representative Jerrold Nadler of NY, had previously said he was hoping for an appearance by Mueller on that date. "That's up to our attorney general".

"The White House has so far indicated that they would not interfere with Mr. Mueller's attempts to testify", he said.

Trump also insisted that Mueller's 448-page report found "no collusion" and "no obstruction", overstating the conclusions of the almost two-year investigation. "Given the fact that Barr does not seem to be a neutral observer here, Mueller's testimony is all the more important", he added.

Mueller reported that Trump in mid-2017 ordered McGahn to have Mueller removed.

"Barr's testimony alone - created to protect Trump - isn't going to cut it", Schiff said in a tweet.

"I think it's imperative for Mueller to testify". "The American people deserve the truth".
