Nine-man Tottenham lose again as Travers makes his mark

To make matters worse for Spurs, Juan Foyth lunged in recklessly with a risky challenge on Jack Simpson just three minutes into the second half, leaving Pawson with little choice but to brandish a second red card in remarkably quick succession, with the visitors now down to nine men. Before reaching a potential Champions League final there's a Dutch Cup final with Willem II and two league outings against FC Utrecht (home) and De Graafschap (away).

Tottenham Hotspur had two men sent off and failed to make sure of a Premier League top-four finish after slipping to a 1-0 defeat by Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday. The latest top four betting has Spurs and Chelsea at [1.32], Arsenal at [2.66] and Manchester United at [6.6].

The game started evenly but nearly saw Spurs go ahead in stunning fashion.

Third-placed Spurs would have secured Champions League qualification for next season with victory, but they were brilliantly denied on numerous occasions by 19-year-old debutant Mark Travers in the Cherries goal before spectacularly losing their cool.

Travers became the first teenage Premier League goalkeeper to start a match since Joe Hart in October 2006 and he soon showed why he was deserving of such faith.

And minutes later he nearly gave away a penalty when he kicked Callum Wilson in the back of the leg but again Pawson said no. Soon it got even worse...

Yet there was no escape for Son on 43 minutes when he was sent off for striking Jefferson Lerma in the face following a tussle with the Colombia worldwide.

As Simpson collected the ball, Foyth lunged in high with his right boot, digging the studs close to the Bournemouth man's knee.

Bournemouth struggled to make their numerical advantage count until Nathan Ake climbed highest to meet a corner and head a dramatic victor in the 90th minute.

But the equation is clear for Spurs.

But there was time for one more moment of drama in the 96th minute, as a corner saw Alli go down and it looked like Wilson pushed him to the ground, but no penalty kick was given.
