Hillary Clinton: ‘I’m living rent free inside of Donald Trump’s brain’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi accused Attorney General William Barr of committing a crime by lying to Congress in a closed-door meeting and then on Twitter.

During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Capitol Hill Wednesday, Barr said he had a problem with the way the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director handled the probe, adding, he made his objections known at the time. Democrats on the panel contended that Barr was protecting Trump after he assessed Mueller's report on his own and declared there wasn't enough evidence that the president had committed obstruction of justice. "And if anybody else did that, it would be considered a crime", the top Democrat in Congress told reporters, referring to Mr Barr's congressional testimony. "Nobody is above the law".

(Washington Examiner) Fox News host Chris Wallace warned viewers that some of the people appearing on his network have a political agenda that they are trying to push regarding interactions between special counsel Robert Mueller and Attorney General William Barr.

Collins shot back that Nadler made ridiculous demands, and he was to blame for the attorney general's absence.

Mr Nadler said he thought Mr Barr did not want to appear if he was subjected to questioning by a lawyer from the committee in addition to its members. It found, however, that Trump and his campaign did not engage in a criminal conspiracy with Moscow.

The House Judiciary Committee proceeded with the hearing in front of Barr's empty chair, with many Democrats speaking out against his decision to no-show. Barr said he wouldn't attend under that condition. Mueller, in a letter he wrote in March that was leaked to the media this week, criticized Barr's summary, saying it caused "public confusion about critical aspects of the result of our investigation".

Of course, there's still plenty of evidence that Russian Federation did exactly that back in 2016 (this thread was explored in more detail during AG Barr's Wednesday hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee). The president claimed that the findings were a "complete and total exoneration".

"The Attorney General does not swear an oath of loyalty to any one individual".

That's probably the right thing to do since longstanding Department of Justice precedent says a sitting president can not be indicted.

On Wednesday, the US Justice Department head defended his handling of the Russian Federation interference report after it emerged that lead investigator Robert Mueller had questioned his decision to declare that it cleared President Trump.

Barr said he called Mueller after he received his letter.

"What prosecutors are supposed to do is complete an investigation and then either ask the grand jury to return an indictment or decline to charge the case", Flood wrote in his the five-page letter to Barr.

"I think that the statements being made by the President of the United States, as giving a blanket statement that he's not going to honour any subpoenas, is obstruction of justice", Ms Pelosi said.

Mrs Clinton, 69, offered her tongue-in-cheek suggestion during an interview with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow last night in which she also said she was "living rent-free in Donald Trump's brain". In fact, Mueller explicitly tossed that specific ball into Congress' court.

"I didn't exonerate. I said that we didn't believe that there was sufficient evidence to establish an obstruction offense", Barr said.

He also expressed sympathy for Trump.

However, the Washing Post report did include that Mueller said in a subsequent phone call with Barr that his concern is not about the accuracy of Barr's letter to Congress. In response, Barr obfuscated, filibustered, evaded or outright lied about his actions.
