NBA Magic Johnson steps down from the Lakers

A day thought to be reserved for Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki's final home games was tipped on its head when Johnson held an impromptu press conference at Staples Center and talked to the media for almost an hour. The Lakers were fined a couple of times for tampering that stemmed from Johnson referencing pending free agents or discussing off-court interactions with players of opposing teams under contract. "And I think I had more fun when I was able to be the big brother and ambassador".

James said that when all of the Lakers' key personnel was fit, the team had been a match for most other sides in the league. I've got a lovely life.

"As good as that is, it's not enough for Luke to even know what he has on a consistent basis, when you don't have a consistent roster every night during the season. Magic didn't even put in his two weeks notice with the Lakers" owner, and Twitter users are now laughing at how Magic suddenly peaced out from his high-profile job, which he had held since February of 2017. "I've got a great life. what am I doing?"

"I hope someday I can quit a job that pays me millions 'because it wasn't fun anymore, '" one fan tweeted, while another joked, "magic johnson was the lakers president when this inning started". I did not say that.

Johnson retired in 1991 after he tested positive for HIV, but later returned briefly to the Lakers as a player and a coach. They're finishing this season with their best record in six years, but they were eliminated from playoff contention back on March 22.

Although LeBron James aligned with Magic Johnson last summer and signed up to be on a team built in Magic's vision, some early season comments by Johnson rubbed James the wrong way. Johnson's decision to step down likely means the Lakers won't make a decision on Walton's future until a new front office is in place.

"I think that with (owner Jeanie Buss) and I, I want to always preserve our relationship with her".
