Trump is 'not concerned' about Chinese espionage at Mar-a-Lago

According to a criminal complaint, she was carrying two passports, four cellphones, and computer equipment - including a thumb drive containing malware.

But Trump said on Wednesday he's not concerned at all about security at his Florida residence.

"The Mar-a-Lago club management determines which members and guests are granted access to the property", according to the statement emailed to new agencies at 9:23 p.m.

According to CNN, the security breach is being seen as a possible espionage effort.

The official said the Federal Bureau of Investigation is doing what it has to do in these circumstances, when there is a foreign national involved and there is a possibility of counterintelligence or cyber security issues.

Warren cites a Government Accountability Office report from last month, which found that the White House makes a final decision on who can enter the inner sanctum of Mar-a-Lago after vetting by the Secret Service.

He also praised the job the Secret Service has done.

Her events at Mar-a-Lago were also cancelled, but promotion of those events continued on Chinese social media, apparently as recently as last week.

Representative Elijah Cummings, the Democratic chairman of the U.S. House Oversight Committee, said the Secret Service, which protects the president, will brief him and top committee Republican Jim Jordan on the incident. Staff allowed her access "due to a potential language barrier issue" after believing she was related to a club member. "The apparent ease with which Ms. Zhang gained access to the facility during the president's weekend visit raises concerns about the system for screening visitors, including the reliance on determinations made by Mar-a-Lago employees".

The Global Times, a paper owned by the Communist Party of China, blasted Washington's handling of the situation and accused the United States media of hyping up both Zhang and Yang as Chinese "Trojan horses".

"I saw the story. I haven't spoken to anyone", he told reporters at the White House.

Among other things, the California Democrat requested to know the status of the investigation and whether China has attempted to conduct "influence operations" at the club.

Yang worked with a Chinese event promoter named Charles Lee to advertise Safari Night and other galas and political fundraisers featuring the Trump family at Mar-a-Lago over the past year.
