Gmail Gains Email Scheduling; Smart Compose Feature Coming to iOS

Since Google announced the discontinuation of Inbox, the company has redesigned the Gmail app, rolled out a smart compose feature, and has announced plans to roll out an email scheduling feature.

When the feature is turned on for your account, you'll see a new drop-down arrow in the Send box when you're composing a message in the browser. This is helpful if you want to send an email at a later time or date, to accommodate time zones or not disturb someone's vacation, explains Google. Google will propose a few times for you, or you can schedule the email to go out whenever you'd like. Google will also activate the function in the Gmail app for Android and iOS.

"It will personalize suggestions for you, so if you prefer saying "Ahoy", or "Ello, mate" in your greetings, Smart Compose will suggest just that".

First you'll need to wait for the feature to roll out to your device, which may take some time. Spark Mail brings all the swipe gestures you might ever need. Still, these features are not as prominent as they were in Inbox, which makes me think most people likely end up using Gmail way they always have.

Google in January released a new interface design for the mobile version of Gmail that includes new visual implementations, as well as feature additions.

"This makes it easier to stay focused on the task at hand since you won't have to open a new tab or leave your inbox", Bank said. There's a natural language search and "Smart Notifications" that only alert you about important emails. "It can also suggest a subject line based on the email you've written", said the company in a blog post. In the meantime, here's how to schedule emails whether you're using the web client or the Gmail mobile app. If a user typically starts a message with a friendly "Hey team", Smart Compose will recognize this and offer that option to help save time whenever a new message is begun.

Once the feature is available, draft your message as usual. If you work in a team that's spread across multiple timezones, this feature is going to be a boon for you.
