Jussie Smollett Case: State’s Attorney Kim Foxx Denies Fixing The Case

Jussie Smollett received a mixture of messages Tuesday after prosecutors dropped the alleged hoax hate crime charges against the actor. At their maximum hourly rate, Smollett would have paid for 70 one-hour training sessions with the single check.

Chicago police union spokesman Kevin Graham on Wednesday said in an interview with Fox News that the city's Fraternal Order of Police members have written to federal prosecutors asking them to review Smollett's actions. "R. Kelly and Felicity Huffman - you're free to go".

Foxx recused herself from the case a week before Smollett was charged, while police still officially considered him a victim of a hate crime. Smollett said that masked attackers hit him and screamed "MAGA country" around 2 a.m. on a sub-zero morning in Chicago.

"We also think that it's a little unusual that she never that no one ever told the police department, the F.O.P, the mayor's office that they were going to dismiss the charges in this case". Emanuel asked. "You can not have, because of a person's position, one set of rules apply to them and another set of rules apply to everybody else".

Smollett spoke with reporters in the immediate moments after the charges were dropped against him. "So what the heck happened?!" she continued.

Among those sure to keep pressing for answers is Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who appeared blindsided by the decision.

"Today, all criminal charges against Jussie Smollett were dropped and his record has been wiped clean of the filing of this tragic complaint against him", they said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

It was, he said, "a whitewash of justice".

"There was no attempt, whatsoever, to influence the outcome of this case. Mr. Smollett being in a position of power over them - him being this celebrity person who could pull strings for them and help them in their career", Schmidt said.

Harris, who is a former district attorney, said of Smollett's case: 'We're going to have to leave it up to the judgment of the prosecutor.

"Based on what I've heard so far - all the resources, effort and energy the Chicago Police Department put into this investigation and the case they built - the decision to drop it doesn't jibe with what we know", Joyce said. Rampant skepticism and leaks to the media about the case concluded with police announcing charges against the actor. CNN's Don Lemon asked Smollett's lawyer Patricia Brown Holmes on Tuesday night after prosecutors dropped the charges in exchange for community service and a forfeited bond. "That was where I always had a problem, had he extracted politics from it.I just thought it was unusual from day one". Dismissal of charges against the victim in this case was the only just result.

Plus, the EP of the Fox series sounds off on Smollett's future with the show.

Foxx cited Smollett's Class 4 felony charges as reason why her officer proceeded with an "alternative prosecution".
