Huawei debuts P30 series smartphones, shoots for the moon

Huawei - the world's second-largest cellphone manufacturer after Samsung - launched its new flagship P30 handsets in Paris, France, on Tuesday.

"The zoom on its own will make the new Huawei an extremely tempting option for many mobile photographers, but the camera performs very well in nearly all other areas as well", DxOMark writes in its review.

The P30 Pro will ship with 8GB of RAM and will be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage configurations.

As far as the pricing is concerned, Huawei P30 Pro will be priced at roughly Rs 80,000 or Euro 1,024 for the variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The P30 Pro features four cameras with Leica branding.

Huawei has boasted about the new technologies it has squeezed into the phone's camera array.

The cameras of the latest P30-series smartphones come with a Huawei AI HDR+ mode that enables the front and rear cameras to combine multiple photos taken in quick succession. Instead, Huawei uses an acoustic display technology that vibrates the top of the panel to produce sound.

Though you may want to view your images and videos elsewhere to witness them in their full glory - there are no 4K screens here - you will have a decent amount of screen to view them on: the P30 Pro features a 6.47in curved OLED screen.

The P30 has a 3,650mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging while the P30 Pro has a 4,200mAh battery with support for 40W fast-charging and support for 15W wireless fast charging.

This sensor also packs OIS, so you have dual-OIS aboard the Huawei P30 Pro, which is certainly going to be handy for handheld night shots. Check out the best Huawei phones here. On the Pro you get a 5x optical zoom which doubles to an effective 10x using Huawei's hybrid system which uses information from the main 40Mp sensor as well as the 8Mp telephoto camera.

The new device comes with an 8-megapixel periscope zoom lens that is capable of delivering a 5-times optical zoom. You also get Colour Temperature and Flicker sensor. Yeah, your Huawei P30 Pro will be able to capture an ultra-wide angle and a zoomed video at exactly the same time - with both feeds showing up on the screen. Unlike the Pro, there is no periscope lens or TOF sensor.

The P30 Pro earned an overall score of 112.

Coming to the video capabilities, well, Huawei boasts that the P30 series can capture a stunning night-time video - giving new meaning to your candlelight dinners or bonfires, thanks to the new SuperSpectrum sensor. It also improves portrait mode and bokeh effects by maintaining details in the foreground while naturally blurring details in the background. However, it does include magnetic snaps on both bud, thus allowing you to pause the music, end phone calls or disengage to accept a call from your phone.
