Former Trump confidante Hope Hicks to cooperate with probe into Trump

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit Washington next week on an invitation extended by President Donald Trump, CNN quoted White House press secretary Sarah Sanders as saying on Wednesday (local time).

He said his committee is reviewing White House security clearances, "hush money" payments to silence women alleging affairs with Trump, White House officials' alleged use of personal email in violation of federal law and other issues.

Cummings, a Democrat, represents Maryland's 7th Congressional District in the House, where he is the chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform.

Nadler also asked Hicks to provide "any personal or work diary journal or other book containing notes, a record or a description of daily events" related to the president, his campaign or Trump Organization.

During the interview, Hicks acknowledged that she had occasionally told "white lies" for Trump but said she hadn't lied about anything relevant to the Russian Federation investigation.

Hicks played a key role in Trump's 2016 campaign and served as the administration's communications director from August 2017 to March 2018.

Earlier this month, Nadler requested information be provided to the panel from 81 individuals and entities by Monday as part of a wide-ranging investigation into Trump's potential "obstruction of justice, corruption and abuse of power". He added that committee investigators are in contact with others on their list who have said they would be more comfortable responding to a subpoena, rather than a voluntary request.

Hicks testified before lawmakers in a close-door House Intelligence Committee hearing a year ago, when the Republicans controlled the panel. Republicans contended that few - only eight - complied by Monday's deadline.

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon already has provided the committee with thousands of pages of documents, according to CNN, which first reported about the questions Nadler sent Hicks and her agreement to provide documents.

Netanyahu, who has enjoyed a close relationship with Trump, contends that left-wing Israelis are conspiring to oust him because they can't beat him at the ballot box.
