Israeli man dies of wounds sustained in West Bank attack

The UK foreign secretary has said he's shocked by the death of two Israelis killed in West Bank terror attacks, including a father of 12 and an IDF soldier.

The attack began around 9:45 a.m. when a Palestinian terrorist, identified as Omar Abu Lila, stabbed the soldier with a knife and managed to steal his weapon.

He later fired on three vehicles before taking one of the cars to another nearby junction, where he opened fire and wounded a second soldier.

Netanyahu draws a large portion of his base from the roughly 450,000 Israeli Jews who live in the West Bank, territory that Israel captured in the 1967 Israeli-Arab war and Palestinians hope to include in a future sovereign state.

"Anyone looking at the facts can tell that we are the rightful owners of this land, no matter how the settlers try to spin it", said Ziad Alwan, a Palestinian resident of Chicago who has the document proving that the land is registered in his father's name, even though a settler runs a bed & breakfast on his land.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent condolences to the families of the Israeli victims. On Sunday morning a 19-year-old soldier, Gal Keidan, was also killed.

In an apparent attempt to portray the Palestinian Authority (PA) as opposing terror attacks on Israelis, a pro-Hamas website called Palestine Now claimed that official PA spokesman Adnan Al-Damiri characterized as "criminal" the attack launched on Sunday in Ariel that claimed the lives of two Israelis.

The individuals were arrested for "suspected involvement in terrorist activities", the army said, adding that they had since been referred to relevant authorities for further investigation.

Rabbi Ettinger served for three years as dean of the Oz V'Emunah hesder yeshiva in the Neve Sha'anan neighborhood in southern Tel Aviv. "The more they afflict us the more we will grow and flourish".

He also pledged security forces would track down the attacker in addition to his vow the assailant's home would be demolished, a policy regularly carried out by Israel.

Jason Greenblatt, the White House's Middle East envoy, said on Twitter: "We condemn today's brutal attack by a Palestinian terrorist". Gantz accused Regev of using Israeli deaths for "political propaganda". Hamas, the Islamist group that rules the Gaza Strip and has an increasingly powerful presence in the West Bank, said the shooting was in response to "the crimes of the Israeli occupation". According to the Shin Bet, last month saw 89 Palestinian attacks in the area, including dozens of fire-bombings and pipe bombs, although this number is down compared to January's figure of 116 attacks.
