Love Island star Mike Thalassitis found dead

Love Island star Mike Thalassitis has passed away at the age of 26.

Thalassitis, a semi-professional footballer, died on Friday, his management confirmed.

Ms Brown said she knew her friend had been in a "dark place" in the months before his death and posting on Instagram, revealed the details of their last phone call.

The Metropolitan Police said they were not treating the 26-year-old man's death as suspicious after his body was tragically found in Edmonton, North London. "And I will not stop till everyone is aware of the truth behind mental health for not just celebs but everyone".

She pleaded: 'please please do something to support the new class of love island this year. better yet, consider it. really consider going on these shows. you all think it's highs, when in real reality, nobody has a clue. An absolute hero and a legend and someone I personally looked up to, always full of so much positivity and charisma.

Fellow Love Island star Chris Hughes described him as a "good guy" and called on the public to drop the "Muggy" title.

Mike was on the third series of Love Island and a fan favourite.

Megan Barton Hanson, who was given the similar "villian" treatment as Mike in the 2018 series, wrote on her Instagram story: "I'm in utter shock my heart goes out to Mikes family and friends".

Love Island host Caroline Flack also expressed her sorrow at his passing. I won't forget's so will be missed.

Mike, shot to fame in 2017 on the smash-hit ITV2 reality show. "My heart breaks for your family RIP" shared Rachel Fenton. "I have no words".

Mike's co-stars have since urged Love Island to keep a closer eye on those who leave the show.

Stevenage FC, with whom Thalassitis began his football career, tweeted: "Everybody at #StevenageFC is shocked & saddened to hear the tragic news about former player Michael Thalassitis".

In a statement released from Love Island producers ITV, a spokesman said: "Everyone at ITV2 and Love Island are shocked and saddened by this bad news. Thinking of mike's family and friends at the horrendous time. you will be missed terribly".
