France Steps up Security Near Religious Sites After New Zealand Attacks

Police action was also reported in the Linwood neighborhood 5km east of the Masjid Al Noor mosque, with some people injured.

New Zealand Police said three people were in custody and one had been charged with murder on March 15 following the shootings at two mosques in the city of Christchurch during Friday prayers.

Forty-one of the people were killed at Al Noor Mosque, while seven died at Linwood Mosque.

A man has been charged with murder and will appear in court on Saturday morning. According to a news report by CP24,"the gunman spends more than two minutes inside the mosque spraying terrified worshippers with bullets again and again, sometimes re-firing at people he has already cut down".

A apparent manifesto was also posted to Twitter as well as emailed to various media outlets.

He decries the "decaying" culture of the white, European, Western world and states that, "The origins of my language is European, my culture is European, my political beliefs are European, my philosophical beliefs are European, my identity is European and, most importantly, my blood is European", it says.

The manifesto that the presumed New Zealand shooter published is shorter and "more sloppy" than the one written by a Norwegian right-wing extremist who killed 77 people in 2011, but expresses similar sentiments, a Swedish terror expert said Friday.

As one of our loyal readers, we ask you to be our partner.

In the manifesto, Tarrant described himself as an "ordinary white man" who was from a "working class, low-income family".

"My parents are of Scottish, Irish and English stock".

He also went on to explain his childhood, which he described as "regular, without any great issues". "I had little interest in education during my schooling, barely achieving a passing grade".

While his manifesto and video were an obvious and contemptuous ploy for infamy, they do contain important clues for a public trying to understand why anyone would target dozens of innocent people who were simply spending an afternoon engaged in prayer. "Support to the New Zealand police who are committed against hatred and barbarism".

Police Commissioner Mike Bush said 49 people had been killed in total.

In total, the mayor's office says there are roughly 800,000 Muslims living in New York City, and about 250 mosques throughout the five boroughs.

With regard to planning the attack, he wrote: "I begun planning an attack roughly two years in advance and an attack at the location in Christchurch three months in advance".

"Our hearts are broken over today's awful tragedy in New Zealand".

An additional 20 victims have been injured in the attacks, with a total of four suspects in custody.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison confirmed that one of his citizens was among those who had "stolen the lives in a vicious, murderous attack that has claimed so many New Zealanders".

Tarrant's relatives in the Australian town of Grafton, in New South Wales, contacted police after learning of the shooting and were helping with the investigation, local authorities said.
