Storm brings heavy snow, cold to Colorado

"If you must travel, use mass transit", said NYC Emergency Management Commissioner Joseph Esposito.

A winter storm warning that was issued for the North Shore, South Shore and Metro Boston ended at 10 a.m. "There will [also] be a risk for power outages in the Northeast from this storm, mainly due to the heavy and wet nature of the snow".

A winter storm watch is in effect for Sunday night in our area.


The rest of the day Monday will see morning clouds giving way to more sun, with highs around 39 degrees and breezy conditions.

News 12 meteorologists were expecting much of Westchester and the Hudson Valley to see 4-8 inches of snow, with some isolated higher amounts possible, especially in Westchester and Rockland counties.

Rain and snow will develop Sunday afternoon, then change to all snow into the evening.


ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Travel could be hard.

From West Virginia to ME, school districts canceled classes or scheduled delayed openings due to the storm.

"A winter storm moving up the coast will spread several inches of snow over the region tonight, which will likely affect the Monday morning commute", NWS Boston tweeted.
