Jon Jones Beats Anthony Smith at UFC 235, Retains Light Heavyweight Title

A championship bout with a title on the line, welterweight Tyron Woodley faces off against the "Nigerian Nightmare", Kamaru Usman.

In an era of 'superfights, ' Saturday night's UFC 235 card nearly feels a little old-school. ESPN (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT) and UFC Fight Pass (6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT) are scheduled to share coverage of the eight-fight undercard, highlighted by a high-stakes featherweight showdown between Jeremy Stephens and Zabit Magomedsharipov.

The outspoken Ascran (19-0), a former U.S. Olympic wrestler, joined the UFC late past year after a decade fighting in other promotions and sparring with UFC President Dana White on social media. He moved to the Singapore-based One Championship and won another title, defending that belt four times while fighting in China, the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates.

People have wanted to see this guy in with the world's very best for years and Joe Rogan is no different. "(Smith was) saying like, 'That was nice, ' or, 'Was that all you've got?"'

Lesnar had to go through the USADA testing pool before being eligible to fight, but even after doing so, we haven't heard much in regards to when he might return to the Octagon. Besides his failed doping tests, Jones was also stripped of the light heavyweight title due to disciplinary issues.

The odds suggested that Jones would have a straightforward defence of his light heavyweight title at UFC 235 and it looked like being just that before "Bones" landed himself in some trouble.

"I was bleeding all over the place, so I just squeezed as hard as I could", Ascran said.

The fight did not match Jones' vintage displays during his previous world title run, and he admitted he did not deliver the performance he hoped for.

I'm going to do my best to explain why this is such a big deal, why the UFC have all of a sudden decided to make this move and above all else, why Askren is a threat to the UFC's welterweight division. He'll be fighting former UFC champion Robbie Lawler. Jones then announced that he was going to use his workout time to take pictures with fans promising to take a picture with everyone in the audience.

Usman, a powerful wrestler who has dominated most opponents when fights go to the ground, is looking to become the first African UFC champion in history.

"It's title next or I'm out of the UFC".

Tune in to Sony Six and Sony Six HD at 8:30 AM on 3rd March 2019 to see all the action from UFC 235.
