The Ravens Will Reportedly Trade Joe Flacco To The Broncos

So, if Flacco doesn't play up to expectations this upcoming season-and there's a high likelihood of that-the Broncos can release him with relatively minimal penalty.

Well all of that talk from the team's front office seems to be false now as the Broncos have reportedly acquired quarterback Joe Flacco from the Baltimore Ravens via trade according to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

Case Keenum is still under contract with the Broncos for the 2019 season.

Last year, the Washington Redskins and Kansas City Chiefs agreed on a trade for quarterback Alex Smith (going to the Redskins) well before the start of the league year in mid-March.

Flacco is due $18.5 million in 2019, $20.25 million in 2020 and $24.25 million in 2021.

The Broncos are likely sending the Ravens a mid-round draft pick in the swap.

Flacco was the Super Bowl XLVII most valuable player after leading the Ravens to the championship in the 2012 season that included a stunning double-overtime win over the Broncos in the AFC divisional round.

In early 2013, Flacco earned Super Bowl XLVII MVP honors, for a 22-of-33 performance that resulted in almost 300 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-31 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Since winning a ring though, Flacco has only led his team to the playoffs once (2014).

The Broncos own the 10th overall selection in this year's draft, and could now have an impact on the Packers' first selection.
