Jussie Smollett On MAGA Hats: ‘I Never Said That!’

Soon after he reported the incident to police, Chicago investigators released surveillance video images showing two "persons of interest in the area of the alleged assault and battery" of Smollett. The statement emphasised that Smollett is a victim and that he has cooperated with police throughout the investigation.

"These individuals are not yet suspects but were in area of concern and are being questioned", the spokesperson tweeted.

The interview, which will air tomorrow, shows Smollett breaking down when Roberts asks if he feared for his life during the attack. Mr Moore says he heard the attackers yell "Empire f****t n****r" and shouting: "This is MAGA country!".

"For me, the main thing was the idea that I somehow switched up my story, you know?" At one point he suggested that his doubters might have a racial agenda, saying they wouldn't be so disbelieving if his attackers were minorities. "Like, how do you not believe that?' It's the truth".

"I heard as I was crossing the intersection, I heard, "Empire!' I don't answer to Empire", he said".

Smollett said he didn't want to call police at first, but that his friend and creative director, Frank Gatson, called on his behalf. I can admit that I was on it back in the day. "And then we started tussling", said Smollett. "Jussie is rising above hate, racism, homophobia, and doubt surrounding the attack and instead using his voice and talent to fight back against the rising rates of violence against Black and LGBTQ people, as well as those who live at the intersection of those identities". "I said, 'There's a f**king rope around my neck'".

"I didn't need to add anything like that", he said.

He said he didn't remove the rope from around his neck before police arrived "because I wanted them to see".

A week before the attack, Smollett told police he received a threatening letter at work.

While there has not been footage of the attack, the police have identified two potential persons of interest that were spotted walking near the area around the time of the incident.

"I want that video found, found badly".

The actor remembered, "there was a second person involved who was kicking me in my back and then it just stopped and they ran off". "For me, I don't have any doubt in my mind that's them". "They did", Smollett said, referring to his attackers.

Smollett also gave reason as to why he believes he was targeted: Trump.

Police have begun questioning them, Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.

"Transportation records" also assisted detectives, Guglielmi said, noting that he could not elaborate. "He said "This MAGA country n****r" and he punched me in the face so I punched his a** back".

Smollet has since addressed the attack in a statement published by Essence.

Smollett said he didn't initially want to give police his cellphone for their investigation because the device contains private content and phone numbers.

"I have fought for love".

"I noticed the rope around my neck and I started screaming", Smollett said.
