Rent Live Actor Brennin Hunt Injured During Rehearsal

These numbers are the smallest for any of the four musicals FOX has aired since 2016.

About 10 minutes into the high-energy show, Fox aired a message from the cast, which includes Vanessa Hudgens and Brandon Victor Dixon, noting Hunt's accident and explaining that they would be forced to use primarily taped footage from the dress rehearsal (which was recorded in front of its own studio audience).

"And I immediately dropped and was in a lot of pain, and I knew it wasn't good because even with my in-ear monitors I could hear it snap", he added.

In depressing contrast to NBC's triumphant, Emmy-winning production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" past year, this non-event proved that if you're going to do a Broadway show, you should cast it with Broadway names.

That Rent's pre-recorded broadcast felt like a new low - it was the least watched and lowest rated of the trend to date - proved the power of a live performance.

As we learned during the first commercial break of Rent on Fox, the broadcast was not actually live: Home viewers were watching a recording from the January 26 dress rehearsal. What a bummer for them & us & Rent.

Producers promised the show would go on but it really didn't. However, we reached out to reps from FOX who assured us that the full current cast would be performing during the broadcast. Videos from inside the actual performance taking place on the L.A. stage starting trickling onto Twitter.

"Last night during a live performance of Fox's production of Rent, one of the actors, Brennin Hunt, was injured".

As the saying goes, the show must go on, but it will likely be a rough one for Brennin Hunt. If this dude can still sing and perform, who cares if he's seated?

However, producers appealed to dedicated Rent fans by bringing out members of the original Broadway cast to perform Seasons of Love alongside their younger TV counterparts.
