Latest Israeli attacks may signal new period in Syria

A skier's helmet camera has captured the moment Israel's Iron Dome missile interception system intercepting a warhead fired from Syria over the slopes of Mount Hermon.

Israel's military claimed that its Iron Dome interceptor system had managed to shoot down a rocket, which it said was sacked by Iranian forces in Syria at the northern part of the Golan Heights on Sunday.

In an official statement, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit confirmed the strikes, and said the targets included munition storage sites, an area of Damascus International Airport, an Iranian intelligence site and an Iranian military training camp.

Israel has pledged to stop Iran from entrenching itself militarily in Syria, carrying out hundreds of air strikes there against what it describes as Iranian targets in Syria and those of allied militia, including Lebanon's Shi'ite militant group Hizballah.

The recent Israeli missile strike on Syria has sparked many debates in Russian media due to widespread criticism of the ineffectiveness of Russian-manufactured air defences, which are now deployed in Syria.

His remarks come just hours after Israel retaliated for an attempted rocket attack by Iran-backed forces on the Golan Heights.

Israel is widely seen as using its airstrikes to deliver a message to the Iranians that it will not allow its forces to threaten Israel from within Syria as the United States prepares to pull out its troops. Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) claimed to have struck Iranian warehouses at the Damascus airport through its strikes. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said in a statement. The head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Mohammad Ali Jafari, responded by saying that Iran would keep "its military advisors, revolutionary forces and its weapons" in the Arab Republic, despite the Israeli threats. Russian Federation maintains that Israel did not notify it of the attack sufficiently in advance for the plane to distance itself from the scene of the strike.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired back on Wednesday at Qasem Soleimani, the powerful commander in Iran's Revolutionary Guard who suggested ousting the Israeli leader in order to prevent further attacks on its operations in Iran.

A senior Iranian official said his country will continue to be involved in Syria as long as the Syrian government asks for its help.

"This is meant to work against Iranian missiles than can fly for thousands of miles", said Rubin.

"We're ready for the decisive war that will bring about Israel's disappearance". Iran's air force chief Brig.
