After focusing on Injustice 2 for the last couple of years, NetherRealm Studios is returning to their roots with the upcoming release of Mortal Kombat 11.

As we reported at the weekend, it's been reported that the current WWE Raw women's champion would be portraying long-serving MK character, Sonya Blade.

Video game stories from other sites on the web.

For the superfans, there's also a $99 Kollector's Edition with a steelbook case and Scorpion cowl-and-mask bust.

While the game's April 23rd release is still a few months away, NetherRealm will be giving fans a peek at what the game will have to offer with a special reveal stream on January 17 and we've got everything you need to know leading up to the stream. We got a good idea of how grisly things will get, but we also got to see a solid look at some of the characters that will definitely be playable. Sonya Blade is being voiced by WWE star Ronda Rousey. Ronda will be voicing Sonya in what looks to be an epic story mode and throughout the fights. I've started sending over what we have for Sonya, which hasn't been much so far. "I feel like if Raiden came down right now and had to pick three warriors for Mortal Kombat, I would definitely be that person!"

Pre-order Mortal Kombat 11 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One or Xbox One X to receive access to the beta, available March 28, 2019. Geras also appears to have some serious muscle power that really comes across in a rather gory fatality that you can check out in the video below.

At the time of writing though, we can't find this demo rumour on Reddit and Gamerant haven't linked to it.
