Samsung has announced that users will be able to control the upcoming QLED TV both through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, as long as they have a device like Amazon Echo or Google Home. And with Google continuing to bring Assistant to new types of devices, that's unlikely to slow down anytime soon. And even this year we can expect the company to make a couple of interesting announcements.

What is Google Assistant? Active users are categorized as those that use the Google Assistant at least once in a pre-determined time period, usually a week or a month. To further expand the reach of the Assistant, Google says it wants to target feature phones next.

"This is really showing that the Assistant is available across the devices that really matter to you", says Nick Fox, Google's head of product and design for Search and Assistant. Google will also be joining the ecosystem with products like Google Play, YouTube and Google Maps becoming compatible with Bixby. For example, Google Assistant is built in to nearly every Android device produced outside of China.

At CES 2019, Google has a big presence. Well, Google Assistant is available on smartphones, Amazon Alexa is available on some smartphones.

Announced at CES on Monday, Google said the increase would represent almost 100% growth since May of a year ago, when its Assistant was installed on about 500 million gadgets. "I think there will be more than that". Bronstein mentioned that trying to communicate on a feature phone is not as simple as on a smartphone. We're going to start talking more about that at Mobile World Congress, but definitely, there's a massive opportunity for voice interaction and assistive technology in those markets as well.
