Paul George of Oklahoma City Thunder booed by Lakers fans

For the first quarter of Wednesday night's game at Staples Center, it looked like George's performance might be as unremarkable as his first back in IN had been.

Already shorthanded without the services of LeBron James (groin) and Rajon Rondo (finger), the Lakers also lost Kyle Kuzma for the second half due to a lower back contusion. "But the games that we had (this week), I think we got better at it".

George struggled with his outside shooting, going 2 of 11 from beyond the arc, but otherwise carved up the Lakers' perimeter defense.

Caldwell-Pope is forcing himself back into the rotation with his long-range shooting and recent play. The Lakers' young core has shown flashes over the past four games, but they lack the consistency James brings with him.

"I thought I handled it better tonight, given I've been in that situation before in Indy now", George said. This was an all-time performance for him.

Some Lakers fans still chanted "We don't need you!" at George in the fourth quarter while he sewed up the win.

After starting slow, George destroyed the Lakers, particularly in the fourth.

Thunder wing Paul George netted 37 points, the highest total on both teams. Los Angeles has lost six of nine after managing just six field goals in the fourth quarter, along with the Lakers' usual very bad free-throw shooting. At one point in time, I was extremely blessed and humbled and thankful to have about three or four commercials on the same time and at that time I really was overwhelmed by the things that I had going on, but to understand that regardless of where you're at, you can do whatever it is that you want to do.

James watched from the Lakers' bench in street clothes. Ball wasn't the problem but he wasn't part of the solution and, as a result, was collateral on the night.

It's hard to blame Luke Walton on the night.
