Emery denies Keylor Navas bid

Arsenal have made a bid to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas in the January transfer window, according to Spanish outlet Sport.

The 32-year-old Costa Rica worldwide has been recently linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium with former Chelsea man Thibaut Courtois now established as first-choice at Madrid.

But Emery has already signed one goalkeeper in his brief Arsenal reign so far, Bernd Leno, but his treatment of the German suggests he is not fully convinced by him yet.

The former PSG boss has denied that is the case, however, and insists that he has not discussed bringing in a new goalkeeper in January.

Navas appeared to say goodbye to Madrid supporters in an Instagram post, sparking speculation that a move away could be imminent. "We never speak about Keylor Navas".

Gunners move for Navas appears unusual after Unai Emery splashed out £19.6m on Bernd Leno in the summer and was expected to bring in a quality centre-back instead this January.

Indeed, the 36-year-old's last league appearance for the Gunners came in September, in a 2-0 win over Watford.

Ramsey will be available as a free agent this summer as his contract expires at the end of the season and he has not been offered a new deal at the club.

Emery, though, has reiterated that he doesn't expect Ramsey to leave in January, but is less optimistic over keeping hold of the playmaker.

Questioned whether there was an interest in Navas, he said: "I don't know". On Tuesday, he scored when he played 15 minutes, and he gave a good performance. But I want him in the present with us.

Emery is expected to make several changes to his side for their FA Cup clash with Blackpool.
