A lion has mauled a young woman to death in the US

The Conservators Center said that a husbandry team was cleaning the enclosure when the attack took place.

Black was a recent graduate of Indiana University and had only been working at the center for 10 days.

Alexandra Black from New Palestine, Indiana was mauled to death in the lion attack at the Conservators Center, a 45-acre wildlife park in rural Caswell County, on Sunday.

The worker who was killed by an escaped lion at a North Carolina zoo has been identified as a 22-year-old intern whose family says she died "following her passion".

The center said the lion had escaped a locked enclosure during a routine cleaning.

Stinner went on to share that the Conservators Center, which is closed until further notice, will be re-evaluating safety protocols to ensure that the facility is "safe for our people and for the public".

The facility was founded in 1999 and is in Burlington, about 50 miles northwest of Raleigh. "I am now looking to gain experience in animal husbandry, specifically with "exotic" species as I hope to eventually become a zookeeper!" she wrote. The animal was killed so that Alexandra Black could be retrieved.

"The Conservators Centre is devastated by the loss of a human life today", a statement said.

In 2004, the center accepted the placement of 14 lions and tigers by the United States Department of Agriculture that had been living in "unacceptable conditions".

"It is unclear at this time how the lion left the locked enclosure".

A LION killed a USA woman who had just started working at the facility where it was kept, said the centre yesterday.

The local country sheriff's office has been contacted for comment.

"She was a attractive young woman who had just started her career, there was a awful accident, and we are mourning", the family said.

"Although Alex was with us for a very short time, she made an impact on our community".

Her family released a statement seen on USA network ABC news, revealing how they are "in mourning" after the "terrible accident". Her family has asked for those who would like to honor her memory to consider donating to Wolf Park, and we echo that request here.
