Bitcoin rallies as Amazon embraces blockchain

Unveiled at re:Invent yesterday, Amazon Outposts is an on-prem data centre system consisting of fully configurable AWS-designed compute and storage racks and AWS software - allowing customers to run compute and storage on-prem and connect to AWS's cloud.

They explained that no data would be stored on AWS servers or used for training.

The new offering positions Amazon well to compete with other analytics service providers - perhaps most notably, UnitedHealthcare's Optum - and to support its still-unnamed partnership with JP Morgan Chase and Berkshire Hathaway.

Rahul Pathak, General Manager, Amazon Blockchain at AWS. said that many of their customers want to build applications where multiple parties can execute transactions without a central, trusted authority, and they also need to create a blockchain network.

Enterprises migrating to AWS often need to manage a large number of accounts, distributed teams, and applications.

AWS now has some 140 services available to cloud customers. The same hardware will run, and be configured & used by the same methods. Jassy said that this second type of user wants blueprints and best practice out of the box when they come to AWS, and that Control Tower "is the easiest way to set up, govern and secure a compliant, multi-account environment or landing zone on AWS" along with policy guardrails and analytics for visibility into this environment.

The new service will come with VMWare-designed software which effectively mixes two technologies now favored by enterprise, but not necessarily deployed in their entireties- cloud and virtualization.

"The VMware variant allows you to run VMware Cloud on AWS locally on Outposts to use the same VMware control plane and APIs you use to run your on-premises infrastructure". (AWS) through integration with technology, the channel and workforce diversity. This can simplify the workflow and get the information out to developers quickly.

The announcement comes soon after the launch of AWS Transit Gateways, which will provide a single way to manage the network resources, both in cloud and on-premises.

AWS had already announced some new updates to its cloud machine learning (ML) services, Amazon Polly, Amazon Translate and Amazon Transcribe.

Jassy said it scales to support thousands of applications running millions of transactions, and users can manage their blockchain networks using simple API calls. For instance, the NAB Data Hub which is a data lake we're building on AWS, is a first and foundational element of our data strategy.

The data-mining service, which is eligible to meet health privacy law standards, uses natural language processing to unearth data regarding diagnoses, treatment histories, medication dosages, symptoms and more.

AWS DeepRacer cars can be pre-ordered today on for delivery in 2019, just in time for the opening of the DeepRacer League in the new year.

AWS revealed that the customers will be abel to use the Inferentia with the TensorFlow AI software, which is created by the Google, as well as some of the other AI frameworks like the ONNX and PyTorch format for converting models.

AWS has also boosted its machine learning services. Amazon is focusing on to mitigating the time spent on analysing medical data of a patient.
