Hogan spoke with the WWE locker room in July before an event and his comments were not widely appreciated.

Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan is set to host the upcoming "Crown Jewel" event in Saudi Arabia, as reported by CBS Sports Pro Wrestling Sheet.

Hogan hasn't made a WWE appearance since 2015 after his own contentious exit from the scene. It began with Hogan's likeness surfacing on the superstars page for the Crown Jewel event on the company's website, leading speculation of his involvement with Crown Jewel.

This will be the second big event for the WWE in Saudi Arabia this year, the first being the Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27.

The event is surrounded by controversy after the WWE chose to go forward with it despite an American resident and Washington Post journalist being murdered earlier this month at Saudi Arabia's consulate in Turkey. The ensuing cover-up of his murder has been exposed in recent weeks, and the WWE even reportedly considered moving the event, but that would have been in breach of a contract with Saudi Arabia.

As for the rest of the show; Brock Lesnar won the vacant Universal Championship after what essentially amounted to a squash match with Braun Strowman, who was heavily expected to win.

Bryan was scheduled to take on AJ Styles for the WWE Championship in a dream match.

Cena was replaced in the World Cup match by Bobby Lashley on Monday night's WWE Raw.

Friday is generally a good day to bury bad news and when you add in an already super-charged controversy to the mix, what better time to bring Hulk Hogan back into the fold?
