LeBron finished with a 28 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists, leading the Lakers to a 121-114 comeback win against the visiting Denver Nuggets.

PHOENIX - After an angry Luke Walton held nothing back on his team's poor defense at the morning team meeting, the Los Angeles Lakers responded to their coach and rode a dominant second quarter to their first victory of the season.

Lakers: Rookie Svi Mykhailiuk had four points. The next trip down, he launched another three-and hit it.

Even with the injury, Booker still managed to put up solid numbers against LeBron James and the Lakers. Stephenson finished with 12 points, four rebounds and four assists in 24 minutes, with eight of those points coming in the decisive 71-second fourth-quarter stretch.

"It's my first home win as a Laker, my first triple-double as a Laker", James said.

The Lakers went on a 19-4 run late in the fourth quarter, capped by two Kyle Kuzma dunks to take control of the game.

Despite a few careless turnovers and a couple of defensive lapses from the 2017 No. 2 pick, the Lakers were +10 with him on the court and minus-3 without him.

James responded by notching his first triple-double as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, and Bryant said he was thrilled with the performance.

While playing with James ultimately makes the game easier on his teammates, not everyone takes to his playing style right away.

Both teams shot 50 percent from the field but the Nuggets were a paltry 6 of 23 from 3-point range.

The visitors were without Rajon Rondo and Brandon Ingram, who are serving bans for their part in a brawl during defeat by the Houston Rockets on Sunday.

Stephenson and other Lakers said they couldn't help but notice Bryant sitting there in the corner.

"I don't think there's a statement game to be made". Making his third start in place of the suspended Rondo, Ball had 12 points, eight assists, six rebounds and five steals. I feel like that's definitely lowered my value as a basketball player.

"A lot of people always try to discredit what he can do offensively but they never give him enough credit what he does defensively", James continued.

Once longtime rivals, James was thankful to see Bryant come out and watch him and the Lakers. "Tonight when we fell behind, we learned from our mistakes, and that's one of the most important things in life".
