Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Eden Hazard named on Ballon d'Or shortlist

The nominees for the award are selected by France Football, while the voting is done by group of worldwide journalists with no more than one per country.

Premier League duo Roberto Firmino and Eden Hazard are among the nominees for the 2018 Ballon d'Or.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Paris on Monday December 3, with television coverage from 20:45 CET.

He is joined by the holder and five-time victor Ronaldo, who is included after facing an allegation of rape by a woman he met in Las Vegas in 2009, which the Juventus striker denies.


Real Madrid playmaker Isco and Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante have also been revealed as nominees for France Football's prize.

The Ballon d'Or is run by France Football, after confirmation this year Fifa had broken away from the award.

Real Madrid have two players in the Ballon d'Or nominees - Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema while PSG star Edison Cavani become the final contender.

De Bruyne was nominated for helping City win the Premier League and Belgium reach the World Cup semi-finals.


Eden Hazard gives Chelsea another player in the running after starring alongside De Bruyne at the World Cup, with England's Golden Boot victor Harry Kane also included.

At Fifa's awards in September, Croatia and Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric was named the world's best male player, while Brazil and Orlando Pride forward Marta won the best female player award.

Kylian Mbappe, who hit four goals in 13 minutes on Sunday in the rout over Lyon, remains in the hunt for the award after ending his season with a World Cup winners' medal with France.
