In August, it was announced that first lady, Melania Trump would be making her way to "several countries in Africa" as her first solo tour since that man she married took office, to supposedly promote healthcare and education programs ran by United States foreign aid organizations. "All in all, her visit is to aid us in boosting tourism as well as strengthen Ghana-US ties", he said.
Mrs Trump will on Tuesday morning visit the children's block at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital to observe some of the efforts by the government to improve child healthcare.
USA first lady Melania Trump greets a child during a visit to a hospital in Accra, Ghana, October 2, 2018. The two women traded gifts: a White House tray in a signed leather case for Akufo-Addo and a Kente cloth and artifacts for Trump. She has focussed on children as her signature issue and plans to promote child well-being during her four-country tour, which will include stops in Kenya, Malawi and Egypt.
Her son, Barron, did not accompany her on the trip. She also watched a nurse demonstrate how vitamins are administered to babies by mouth and toured the neonatal intensive care unit.
Mrs. Trump's visit opened in low-key fashion.
Next up, she was headed off to a private tea with the First Lady of Ghana at the presidential palace.
