It is one of the Ionian island's main attractions, in part because of the shipwreck on the shore and also because of its surrounding steep cliffs.

A landslide over the iconic Navagio beach on Zakynthos island has reportedly injured three people.

While now, no one is missing, the coastguard called in helicopters and boats to search the area, in case anyone was trapped under the rocks.

"We haven't found any trapped people but we will continue searching", a spokesperson for the fire brigade said.

The force of the fall created a large wave, resulting in a couple of small vessels in the vicinity being overturned.

Authorities evacuated and shut down access to the beach, which can only by reached by boat, as a precaution. The rock was so large, it caused a small tsunami, with large waves crashing onto the beach.

A section of a cliff fell onto a popular secluded beach on the western Greek island of Zakynthos Thursday, injuring seven people, including a woman who suffered a spinal injury, authorities said. The other six people injured included two children and according to a hospital official they received treatment for minor injuries.

Lynette Bridges, 58, said her tour boat had just pulled up on Zante's Shipwreck Beach when an enormous sheet of stone crashed into the sea, capsizing boats and flooding the crowded sands.
