Company chief executive Jack Dorsey tweeted an explanation Tuesday, saying that Jones had not violated the platform's policies. The decision to completely pull the other shows, including "The Alex Jones Show" and "War Room", represents a broader effort than those made by other companies in recent days to stop disseminating material associated with Jones, whom the Southern Poverty Law Center calls "the most prolific conspiracy theorist in contemporary America". And on August 6, not only YouTube, but also Facebook, Spotify and Apple have removed Jones and his Infowars network from their platforms. But Twitter has decided not to suspend Jones or his website InfoWars.

A deeper dive into Apple's guidelines says the company bans apps that feature "content that is offensive, insensitive, upsetting, meant to disgust, or in exceptionally poor taste", according to Buzzfeed News.

Apple has removed the entire library for five of Infowars' six podcasts from its iTunes and Podcast apps, BuzzFeed News has learned. When users violate these policies repeatedly, like our policies against hate speech and harassment or our terms prohibiting circumvention of our enforcement measures, we terminate their accounts.

Dorsey then explained how Twitter's algorithms look at users' behaviors to make decisions on where to place content.

"If we succumb and simply react to outside pressure, rather than straightforward principles we enforce (and evolve) impartially regardless of political viewpoints, we become a service that's constructed by our personal views that can swing in any direction", he added. "Accounts like Jones' can often sensationalize issues and spread unsubstantiated rumors, so it's critical journalists document, validate, and refute such information directly so people can form their own opinions".

The Infowars app contains only rebroadcasts of the current day's episodes, subjecting a much smaller set of content to the rules.

Jones has also claimed that the September 11, 2001 attacks on NY and Washington were staged by the USA government.

The moves by Apple, Facebook and YouTube shut down key distribution channels that had given Jones easy access to millions of internet users. In June, The Washington Post reported that Dorsey, in an attempt to assuage conservative critics who think his platform is biased against them, took a private dinner with Republican leaders and conservative commentators in May.
