Apparently, the film would be a historical drama and set against the backdrop of Mughal empire. It includes Ranveer Singh ("Padmaavat"), Kareena Kapoor Khan ("Veere Di Wedding"), Alia Bhatt ("Raazi"), Vicky Kaushal ("Sanju"), Bhumi Pednekar ("Toilet - Ek Prem Katha"), Janhvi Kapoor ("Dhadak") and Anil Kapoor ("Race 3"). Can't wait to watch these megastars coming together for the first time and showcasing their talent under the direction of none other than KJo himself. "Takht is about war for love", says Karan Johar. "A story of a family, of ambition, of greed, of betrayal, of love and of succession.Takht is about war of love". He took to his twitter and wrote, "An incredible story embedded in history..."
Alia Bhatt, of course, is the safest bet for Karan, for not only is she a Dharma staple, she remains one of most talented actors among the young lot. Alia, who made her Hindidebut with Karan Johar's Student Of The Year in 2012, tweeted: "Back where I began, to my roots". Karan Johar again tweeted, "I am so excited and honoured to announce the lead cast of #TAKHT @RanveerOfficial #KareenaKapoorKhan @aliaa08 @vickykaushal09 @psbhumi #JanhviKapoor @AnilKapoor #HirooYashJohar @apoorvamehta18 @sumit_roy_ @hussainhaidry".
Directed by Karan Johar, the film is expected to hit the screens in 2020.
