According to a report from Calciomercato, Manchester United are weighing up a last-gasp bid to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic before Thursday's transfer deadline.
The Rossoneri have been linked with a move for the Serbian, but his price tag means a move to San Siro can't happen, at least this summer.
Jose Mourinho has spent most of pre-season in a haze of anger due to the clubs lack of transfer activity but there is still time for the wallet to be opened.
The Serbian midfielder enjoyed a fine World Cup in Russian Federation for his nation and has caught the eye of several clubs, including Serie A rivals Inter and Milan, along with the Premier League duo of Manchester United and Chelsea.
"Of course I do not want to sell, but if you asked me how much he is worth, I will remind you that past year I refused a €110 million offer".
"I'm happy to be back", the midfielder said.
Even then, signing him will not be the easiest of tasks for Manchester United, with a number of other clubs interested in Milinkovic-Savic.
It's suggested in the report that Lazio are in no rush to sell Milinkovic-Savic to Man Utd as they feel Real Madrid may come calling later in the summer after selling Cristiano Ronaldo while Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic are also being linked with moves away from the Bernabeu.
Ex-Genk scout Roland Janssen helped bring Milinkovic-Savic to Genk and is now working for United, with the Belgian potentially helping drive the interest in the dynamic midfielder.
