Idris Elba was rumored to be the next James Bond, reports stated.

Anyone know how Stringer Bell likes his martinis?

According to Daily Star, Bond franchise producer Barbara Broccoli has revealed that we could be on the cusp of getting a black 007.

British actor Idris Elba is reportedly being eyed to take over as the new James Bond, once Daniel Craig retires from the role.

Eon Productions, maker of the James Bond films, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. If that were the case, Elba would be considered a top candidate for the part. There's also the fact that Elba plans to follow up his directorial debut Yardie with an amibitious adaptation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as actor, director, producer and musician - so he may well be too busy for Bond.

Other actors whose names have been suggested to take over the role of 007 include McMafia star James Norton, Tom Hardy, and Poldark's Aidan Turner.

He added: "Idris could do it if he was in shape". And now, even though Daniel Craig is back for likely one final round in Danny Boyle's Bond 25, it appears Elba is still a focal point of the "next Bond' conversation - whether he's interested in the role or not". You need a guy with physically strong presence.

But Craig, who's played the secret agent since 2005, still has one more film to make.

The latest Bond film is scheduled to reach United Kingdom cinemas on October 25, 2019.
