Everton clinched the signing of their top defensive target, Yerry Mina, in a potential £28.5million deal as Marco Silva made three deadline-day signings to continue the reshaping of his squad.

'It is important that the club want to fight for something, ' Mina told evertontv.

Everton signed Yerry Mina for 30.25 million euros, André Gomes on a one-season loan deal, and Bernard on a free transfer.

Barcelona can buy the centre-half back for around £30m if he does well at Goodison but, for now, he is an Everton player.

Mina had been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United following an impressive 2018 World Cup with Colombia, but Everton secured his signature.

Everton have won the race for his signature with the attacking midfielder signing a four-year contract.

Portugal global Gomes endured even greater struggles at LaLiga's champions and has found an escape route in the shape of a season-long loan at Goodison Park, which will cost the Toffees €2.25million.

With a little less than two hours left for Premier League sides to do deals, Everton are cutting it close but they remain confident of taking both deals over the line in time. This is a great opportunity for me and I am looking forward to competing here.

"Everton is historically the fourth most successful club in England", said Bernard.

In the end, the Portuguese will cost Everton 2.2 million for the loan and pay his wages in full, another favour from the club who also splashed 20.2 million on Digne.
