Brad Pitt's attorney has slammed Angelina Jolie for trying to "manipulate" the media with her "meaningful" child support request, insisting the actor has given her more than $9 million in two years.

The Oscar-winning actress recently accused Pitt in court documents of not paying any "meaningful" child support for their six children since their separation.

Spiegel also said that Pitt "loaned" Jolie US$8 million to help her purchase her current home and has spent more than US$1.3 million "in bills for the benefit of [Jolie] and the minor children". Sources say that claim is "a joke".

"What has been filed by Brad's side today is a blatant attempt to obfuscate the truth and distract from the fact that he has not fully met his legal obligations to support the children", the statement read.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt attend the premiere of "By the Sea" at the 2015 AFI Fest at TCL Chinese 6 Theatres on November 5, 2015 in Hollywood, California. Brad was asked to assist in the expense of a new home for Angelina and the children, but instead he loaned Angelina money, for which he is charging her interest on a payment plan.

"[Pitt] has a statutory duty to pay child support".

They tied the knot in a secret ceremony in August 2014, and share six children together: Maddox, 17, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 10.

Separate sources told Page Sixthat theWorld War Z star has spent "millions for therapists" for their brood, as well as forked out for their travel expenses and round-the-clock bodyguards.

The order outlined a shared custody schedule for the summer in which the children would split their time between Los Angeles and London, with Jolie maintaining primary physical custody.

Brad Pitt is having a hard time with his ex Angelina Jolie's decision to make their divorce battle public again and he's furious over the fact that it's negatively affecting their kids. 'But she filed in LA Superior Court knowing that it would go public and that he would be made out to be a deadbeat dad - which he isn't'.

"Brad has completely lived up to his commitments as far as child support and will continue to do so", the source added.
