Mateo Kovacic: Chelsea confirm fourth signing, midfielder opens up on move

Real Madrid have confirmed that Courtois will undergo a medical on Thursday morning, before signing a six-year deal and being presented at 1pm local time.

Thibaut Courtois hasn't covered himself in glory with the way in which he has forced his move to Real Madrid this summer.

The Stamford Bridge clubs move for the 23-year-old Spain global is now expected to allow their current number one Thibaut Courtois to finally conclude his £35 million transfer to Real Madrid.

Now, as the start of Premier League play approaches the footballing world as reportedly received clarification on the future of the goalkeeper position at Chelsea.

While not discussing the status of the transfer, Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri said that Kepa was "very young, but very, very good".

The statement made no mention of Chelsea, but the move represents a world record for a goalkeeper, surpassing the £65m paid by Liverpool to Roma for Brazil goalkeeper Alisson Becker last month. Sarri also hinted that Eden Hazard is likely to stay at the London club.


Kovacic has enjoyed a wonderful summer with his nation, helping his Croatia reach the World Cup final and performing wonderfully alongside Luka Modric in midfield.
