Lucas Digne expects to have a battle on his hands to displace Leighton Baines in the Everton side.

The France worldwide moved to Barcelona in 2016 where he played 46 times and won the double last season with Ernesto Valverde's side.

To do that, he will have to secure his position ahead of Baines, who has made more than 400 appearances for Everton since joining the club from Wigan in 2007. I think everybody wants to be better than the previous year.

'I saw a few games when he played for Watford and I said, "Oh this guy is crazy",' said the Frenchman.

The former PSG and Barcelona left-back has now explained what his body art means and also revealed that he turned down a move to Anfield on two occassions.

I gave him 60 minutes because he needs to start to get his fitness.

He joins the Goodison Park club from Barcelona for a reported £18 million. He'll choose the best for his career and we'll see.

"When you have good ball strikers and strong players in the box, set pieces are important", Silva said.

And in quotes appearing in the Liverpool Echo, Digne said: "There is nothing about football, it is just about my parents".

Everton new boy Lucas Digne's arrival on Merseyside has attracted a lot of attention from the Toffee's city rivals Liverpool, after it emerged that Marco Silva's new recruit has "I Never Walk Alone" tattooed across his chest.

"Two times, the first after Lille when I went to Paris and the second time was after Rome".
