Samira Wiley, Ryan Eggold To Announce 2018 Emmy Awards Nominations

The 2018 Emmy Awards nominations came out today, and of course, many fan favorites were left off of the list.

Donald Glover's "Atlanta" was the top comedy series nominee the with 16 bids, poised to take advantage of the absence this time around of three-time victor "Veep".

The Emmy nominations were announced on Thursday with "Game of Thrones" leading with 22 nominations. Additional HBO projects that scored big were "Barry" with 13 noms, including comedy series; "Silicon Valley" with seven, including comedy series, and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" with four, including comedy series.


It's returning to face formidable competition: "The Handmaid's Tale", the dystopian sci-fi series that claimed top drama honors past year, drew 20 bids, with "Westworld" close by with 21.

"Saturday Night Live, " riding high in the ratings with its relentless pillorying of the Trump administration, was rewarded with 21 nods. It got 23 nods in 2016 but wasn't eligible past year. Although it's up for top series honors, it drew only three supporting acting bids for cast members Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Peter Dinklage.


Beginning at 11:25 am ET, Wiley and Eggold will reveal the nominees for the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards, airing Monday, Sept. 17 (8/7c) on NBC.
