Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.

Israeli military spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus said the drone was constantly monitored and that it traveled about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) inside Israeli territory.

On the other hand, Shoigu said that the United States is trying to destabilize the situation in Syria and to prolong the crisis in it, indicating that Washington hasn't allocated any money to help the Syrian civilians who have been affected by the war.

Israel will not dismiss the possibility of future relations with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman said on Tuesday.

The drone was an intelligence-gathering aircraft and belonged to the Syrian government and its remains have already been retrieved just south of the Sea of Galilee, nearly ten kilometers (six miles) inside Israel, an army spokesman told reporters. "The IDF will not allow any violation of Israeli airspace and will act against any attempt to hurt its civilians".

"The IDF targeted three military posts in Syria in response to the infiltration of the Syrian UAV into Israel that was intercepted by the IDF earlier today [on Wednesday]", the tweet reads. "Obviously, our focus is on Syria and Iran".

Russian Federation is Assad's big-power backer in the seven-year-old civil war.

Israel has largely stayed out of the fighting in Syria but it has carried out dozens of airstrikes on alleged arms shipments bound for the militant group Hezbollah.

Talks also are expected to concentrate on Israel's fight against Iranian presence in Syria.

Russian Federation also has maintained warm ties with Israel and demonstrated a readiness to take its security interests into account.

"Their use of military force in Syria would inevitably lead to an escalation of tensions across the entire Middle East region", he said.
