According to the Daily Mail the Magpies are close to agree a loan deal with Chelsea. The deal, however, is thought to be another loan deal after Chelsea were believed to have quoted £30 million to make the deal permanent.
Kenedy, 22, has travelled to Tyneside for a medical, having trained with Chelsea on Monday.
During his spell at Newcastle last season, Kenedy scored two goals in 13 games from his left wing-back position.
Chelsea are yet to buy a single player this summer, as the prolonged uncertainty surrounding Conte and Sarri has had a paralysing effect on the club's transfer plans in a window already complicated by the World Cup and compressed by the Premier League's earlier deadline, set for August 9.
Kenedy has made only 27 appearances for his parent club since his move from Brazilian side Fluminense three seasons ago, and his chances of becoming a regular first-team squad member grow less likely with every loan move. Others including Bayern Munich, PSG and even Liverpool have shown interest. Kenedy will spend the 2018/19 campaign as a Newcastle player.
But with Maurizio Sarri closing in on the job, decisions appear to be in the works at Stamford Bridge.
Currently, Kenedy has returned to Chelsea training ahead of their pre-season with Antonio Conte presiding over matters as his situation still remains unclear.
