According to a UK Daily Mail report, Manchester City have failed in two previous attempt to land the Algeria global, it now seems the former Premier League victor will be leaving the King Power Stadium for the Etihad this summer.

The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract will wear the No 26 shirt.

"Watching them from afar has been a pleasure".

Multiple sources are saying that an announcement of the Algerian's club-record move from Leicester City is imminent, potentially today or Thursday (Wednesday unlikely due to England's World Cup game).

While we can't verify for sure that it is Mahrez, it certainly looks to be and the presence of City staffers would seem to confirm it.

"Pep is committed to playing attacking football, which is flawless for me, and City's performances last season were outstanding".

City's director of football Txiki Begiristain said Mahrez's attacking qualities would add even more of a cutting edge to a side which already has an abundance of talent such as Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero.

"I think we can be successful over the coming years and I believe my own game can develop under Pep's management".

"Riyad is a hugely talented player".

Pep Guardiola wanted Mahrez from Leicester City in January but was willing to wait until the summer after a refusal to match the Foxes' valuation.

Mahrez will go down as one of the bargains of the Premier League era, having joined Leicester for a reported 400,000 pounds (now $530,000) from French club Le Havre in 2014.

The forward completed his £60million transfer earlier in the day, becoming the club's record signing weeks before they begin their Premier League title defence.
