This would line up with some of the marketing that DJI has been touting for its upcoming event, with the phrase "See The Bigger Picture".
A closer look at the alleged DJI Mavic 2 photo revealed that it looked like a sleeker and more aerodynamic DJI Mavic Pro.
Now Playing: Watch this: DJI's Mavic Air has big features but still fits in a.
But you might want to hold off on buying either one, because it looks like a new DJI Mavic 2 has just leaked out.
Clearly showing side obstacle avoidance sensors as well as the regular front facing sensors, the branded "Mavic 2" tells us the name of this product.
Other potential specifications to the Mavic 2, as inferred from the picture, could be a larger f1/1.7 lens, which would indeed give the drone a greater field of view.
Fans of the "quiet" propellers that were in the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 and DJI Mavic Pro Platinum will be disappointed with this new drone. As such, it may not be the Mavic Pro successor that TechCrunch seems to think it is. The device also sports what looks to be a swappable camera gimbal, meaning users could potentially switch out the on-board model with different version.
CNET notes in a post that 360-degree obstacle avoidance is a possibility here, as well.
The Mavic Pro's video quality has received mixed reviews, and while we'd expect DJI to launch any follow-up device with an improved camera, giving owners additional options would be a big plus and would also set it apart from the Mavic Air, which has a fixed camera. There appears to be cameras and sensors for that objective at the front and sides, and most likely at the bottom and the back of the drone. There has been no official comment from DJI on the leaked drone.
A new date for that event hasn't been set and word was that it was pushed back due to the tech in the drone not quite being ready for primetime.
