It's done! Following Real Madrid's confirmation that Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Real Madrid this summer, Juventus have confirmed that he will join La Vecchia Signora.

"If Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Real Madrid, he will be eternally grateful to the club, the president, all the directors, the medical staff, all the staff without exception, as well as all the Madrid fans around the world".

When Real Madrid bought Ronaldo from Manchester United for £80 million in 2009, they set what was then a world-record transfer fee.

During his time in Madrid, the five-time Ballon d'Or recipient broke a host of records while donning the famous white strip of Los Blancos, including becoming the club's all-time top goalscorer, breaking Raul's previous record three years ago.

"These years at Real Madrid and in this city of Madrid have quite possibly been the happiest years of my life", he wrote. I only have feelings of great gratitude to this club, to the fans and to the city. I can only thank all of them for the affection I have received. The time has come to start a new chapter in my life and for this I've asked the club to let me go.

He's also won the Champions League on four separate occasions with the club.

Real Madrid confirmed the transfer in a statement on Tuesday evening.

Ronaldo will earn an annual salary of around €30 million, while under Italian law Juve have to cough up the same amount every year in tax, meaning that their total outlay over the next four years would be €340 million.

The Portugal worldwide added: "They have been an absolutely wonderful nine years". Real Madrid will always be your home.”Comunicado Oficial: Cristiano Ronaldo. Real Madrid has conquered my heart and that of my family's, too.

Many people considered that to be a contract renewal tactic, but it has proven to be genuine after Real Madrid announced the departure of their star man on Tuesday.

On the eve of the World Cup last month, Ronaldo reached a deal with Spanish prosecutors, agreeing to a $21.8 million fine and suspended prison sentence (as a first-time offender, he's unlikely to serve any time).

Ronaldo made his debut for Sporting Lisbon when he was 17.

The reigning Ballon d'Or victor will end his nine-year spell at Real Madrid with a move to Turin following a reported rift with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez over a new contract.

"After the request from CONSOB related to the news published recently on media outlets, Juventus Football Club S.p.A is keen to remind that during the transfer season the club is evaluating several opportunities and will publish adequate information as prescribed by the law", the Italian champions stated.
